Reava Lue Johnson Salyers White, 85, of Rensselaer, passed away peacefully with several of her loving family at her side on January 29, 2013, at the Jasper County Hospital. Reava was born April 16, 1927, in Bacon, Ind. the daughter of Elmer and Melvena (Spraggins) Ellis.
Reava had lived in Francesville, Winamac, McCoysburg, Buffalo, Oxford, Monon, Ind., and Mesa, Arizona. In Buffalo, Ind. on September 16, 1942, Reava married Howard Johnson who preceded her in death on November 14, 1971. Her second marriage was on November 20, 1976, in Parr, Ind. to Raymond Melvin Salyers who passed away December 13, 1988. On November 17, 1994, in North Judson, Ind. Reava was married to Ebert White who passed away on August 15, 2010. She was a member of the First Love Baptist Church of Medaryville. Reava enjoyed being a sales clerk at the former Schultz’ Bros. Store in Rensselaer, retiring after 13 years of employment.
Surviving are two sons, Norman Dean (Melinda) Johnson, Rensselaer, Arthur LaVern (Lisa) Johnson, Brook, three daughters, Betty Lynn Williford, Bradenton, FL, Joyce (Thomas) Pierson, Fowler, and Nancy Ellen Wagner, Francesville; stepson, David Elmer (Sandy) Salyers, Monticello, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Evelyn Ruth Cooley, Monon.
Reava was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Howard, Raymond, and Elbert, a son, Melvin Wayne Johnson, a daughter, Vivian Fay Fyda, and one sister. Pastor Randy Gann officiating.
