Ganim, Raymond W. Ganim, age 93, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Gladys Rashid Ganim, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2017 in his residence with his loving family by his side. Raymond was born on August 29, 1923 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Wanis and Rose Baghdady Ganim. A life-long Stratford resident, Ganim graduated from Stratford High School in 1941 and worked at his father’s fruit and vegetable stand in Bridgeport’s North End. He joined the U.S. Army where he served in the intelligence unit. After graduating from the University of Michigan law school he went to work as a lawyer in Detroit, representing cab drivers. Once back in Connecticut, Raymond soon gained a reputation as a tenacious criminal defense lawyer where he practiced law for over 60 years. Many people considered Raymond as the dean of the area’s criminal defense lawyers. Raymond is survived by two brothers, Davis W. Ganim and wife Joan of Stratford and George Ganim Sr. and wife Josephine of Easton, two sisters, Laurese Coury of Stratford and Virginia Baghdady of Weston, MA and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, Gladys, Raymond was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Ganim and John Ganim and one sister, Jeanette Owen.
