Raymond W. Frederick, 88, of Fountain Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg in Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Betty Jean (Furry) Frederick, who died on March 1, 2012. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Oscar and May (Spicer) Frederick. Ray worked as a Community Relations Coordinator at UGI for 30 years, until retiring. He was a member of Christ U.C.C. in Bethlehem, where he was a choir member for over 30 years, and belonged to the men’s Rubicon group of the church. He also was a formerSunday School Teacher, and a ordained elder of the UCC faith. He was the former president and treasurer of the former Grace UCC Church. He was a member of the Fountain Hill Exchange Club, where he served as past president. He was a judge of elections and a treasurer of Citizens Committee of the Republican party, and past president of the Gas Utilization Council. He served on the board of governors and belonged to the Bethlehem Elks, and it’s stage band. He was also a member of the Bethlehem Municipal Band, American Legion Band, where he served as past director,where he played the baritone and sang in the Liberty High School Alumni Chorus. He was a past member of the Vo-Tech advisory board, and volunteered on the United Way campaign and also for the Good Shepherd home and the 39 fund campaign. He was a volunteer and board member of First Night, and was also on the board of the Muhlenberg Summer Festival, where he was affectionately known as the “Voice of the Muhlenberg festival”. Ray was an avid golfer, and was member of the Tall Cedars Golf League. Survivors: daughters Sandra J. Casella and husband Joseph of Bethlehem, Susan D. Walls and husband Mark of Spencer, NY, Nancy L. McCluskey and husband Raymond of Kunkletown; sons Dr. James E. Frederick and wife Vige of Clinton, NY, Thomas A. Frederick and wife Kathy of Newville; brother William Frederick and wife Evelyn of Phoenixville; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson Zane Alexander.
