Raymond W. Bangert, 93 years of age, of Jefferson City, Missouri, formerly of Harbine passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Villa Marie in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born on May 10, 1923 near Guide Rock to Henry and Marie (Seeman) Bangert. Raymond completed basic training with the United States Army in 1945 shortly before World War II ended. According to Raymond, the war ended because they knew he was coming. He married Elaine Grabowski on August 25, 1946. Raymond and Elaine made their home in Harbine, where he worked for his brother Henry who ran a grocery, hardware and oil business. Raymond then built a garage and did repair work on automobiles and farm machinery for several years before going to work in Beatrice in the automotive parts business. He was a faithful and active member of Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine where he served in many offices of the congregation, sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School and enjoyed being very involved in youth ministries.

Raymond is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Holle and husband Daryl of rural Jansen; son, Gary Bangert and wife Judith of Jefferson City, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Greg Holle, Kimberly (Holle) Davis and husband Steve, Christine Bangert and fiancé Chris Henson, Julie Bangert, Jason Bangert; 5 great grandchildren, Kirsten and Alex Holle, Rachel, Aaron and Ryan Anderson; sister, Irene Cook of Fairbury; 2 sisters-in-law, Mureen Bangert of Seward, Leota Wallman of Diller; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine on June 23, 1995; great granddaughter, Jade Holle; 3 brothers, Victor, Henry Jr. and Arthur; and sister, Esther Grabowski.
