Raymond A. “Pat” Patterson, 82, of Jacksonville, IL died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his residence.

He was born August 22, 1930 in Jacksonville, the son of Cecil H. and Beulah Summers Patterson. He married Pauline Lewis on September 29, 1956 in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Cheryl Patterson (fiancé, Ed Rathgeb) of Jacksonville; two brothers, Robert L. “Chub” Patterson (wife, Patsy) of Jacksonville, FL, and Jack H. Patterson (wife, Joan) of Jacksonville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy Ray “Big Dog” Patterson; and a sister, Dorothy Morthole (surviving husband, Edward of Jacksonville).

Mr. Patterson was a 1949 graduate of Jacksonville High School and served with the US Navy from 1951-1955 in Hawaii. Pat spent most of his life in auto sales for several area dealerships. He was also employed several years as a driver license examiner for the Illinois Secretary of State and later returned to serve as manager of the Drivers License Examining Facility in Jacksonville.

He was a long time member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a life member of American Legion Post #279 and Jacksonville Elks Lodge. In his spare time, Pat enjoyed fishing and rooting for the Chicago Bears.
