SMITH, Raymond K. died November 12, 2013, at age 94. Ray was born July 20, 1919, in Climax, MI to the late Herbert and Mary Wolcott Smith. He was united in marriage to Suzanne “Kate” Betz on June 3, 1942.
Kate preceded him in death on March 7, 2003. Ray served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant, from December 1942 until honorably discharged in January 1946. Among his personal awards were, the Purple Heart and WWII Victory medal. After the war, Ray began his duties in the existing family business, the Climax Crescent, from where he retired in 1990. Ray is survived by his sons, John Brenda Smith of Battle Creek and Charles Dawn Smith of Marshall; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Farthing and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding Ray in death was his brother, Edwin Smith.
