Raymond H. Nixon, 72, of New Carlisle, IN, died of natural causes, on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, IN

He was born on April 6, 1934 to the late Robert H. and Dessie (Hendon) Nixon in Decatur, Alabama, and has lived in New Carlisle since 1953, coming from Decatur.

Mr. Nixon was retired from Amoco Oil Company.

On June 27, 1953, he married Betty A. Adkins in South Bend, IN. She survives.

Along with his wife Betty of 52 years; he is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Dave) Griffin; Cassandra Nixon; Kimberly (Kurt) Kalberer; two sons, Timothy (Tina) Nixon; Richard (Miriam) Nixon; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian, Stacey, Jenna, Nicole, Matthew, Grace, Keith, Kassidy, Christiana, Elijah; one great grandchild, Lauren; one sister, Doris (Johnny) Tuten of Alabama; and one identical twin brother, Ray (Patsy) Nixon of Alabama.

Mr. Nixon was a member of the New Carlisle United Methodist Church and New Carlisle Lions Club. He served as treasurer of the New Carlisle Hometown Days and the memorials fund of New Carlisle United Methodist Church. He also served as an usher at Notre Dame Football games and volunteered as a poll worker serving in all positions with the St. Joseph County Election Board.
