Raymond G. Coffey, 88, of 2025 Misner Road, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Muncy Valley Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Doris I. (Berry) Coffey for sixty-four years.
Ray was born in Williamsport on November 25, 1922 the third son of John P. and Letitia (Long) Coffey. He was a graduate of the Williamsport High School and served in the Liberation of Italy in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He attended the Williamsport Technical Institute on the GI Bill. In 1948 he was hired as a welder and the first employee of Young Industries in Muncy, spending his entire career with Young’s, retiring in 1988 as a sales manager.
Ray was a charter member of the Lycoming Creek Lions Club. He excelled at woodworking, was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing with Doris at Wolfe Island, Canada. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his sense of humor, his commitment to family and his zest for life.
In addition to his devoted wife, Ray is survived by three children, Lynda Rae Howell and her husband James of Red Lion, Judy Lee Renk and John Raymond Coffey both of Williamsport; granddaughters, Natalie Lawton, Elizabeth Butler and Hannah MacDonald; great granddaughters, Raena and Ruby Lawton; sisters, Doris Greenawalt, Shirley Springman and Jeanne Shafer and a brother James.
Ray was predeceased by brothers, John, Charles and William and a sister, Martha Silvi.
