Raymond F. Widlak, 91, a longtime resident of Newington, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Aurora Senior Living in New Britain with his family at his side. Born on June 14, 1923, Ray was the son of the late John and Anna (Okma) Motowidlak. A Veteran of WWII, Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a service manager for the White Motor Company. Ray had a talent for and enjoyed working on cars as well as anything mechanical. He loved music and was a gifted harmonica player. An avid animal lover, with a fondness for dogs, Ray was often in the company of a canine friend. He could often be found riding his tractor and working in his yard. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Ray is survived by his wife, Sabra Godard Newberth-Widlak of Granby, his sons, Gregory Widlak and his wife Marianne of Newington and Curtis Widlak and his wife Donna of New Britain, his daughter, Kimberly Crowley and her husband, William of Plainville, his grandchildren ; Jessie Noguera, Kaitlyn Widlak, Allyson Widlak, Timothy Widlak, Jaime Krajewski and her husband Mike, Ryan Crowley and his wife Rylan, Erin Drejer and her husband Tomasz, Jason Widlak and Melissa Widlak, his sister, Mae Connolly and his sister-in-law Ruth Connolly, both of Groton, CT and daughter-in-law Eva ( Bochenska) Widlak of Newington, his great grandchildren: Rose Noguera, Will and Beckett Krajewski and Quinn Crowley, as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves three step children: Carla Newberth and her husband Richard of West Hartford, Frederick Newberth and his wife Dottie of West Hartford, Nancy Conners and her husband Robert of Newington, four step grandchildren: Carla Conners, Thomas Conners, Jonathan Conners and Catherine Hepner and her husband, Clint, and one step great grandchild, Frederick Carl Hepner. Ray was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Eunice (Howard) Widlak, his son, Douglas Widlak, his brothers, Andrew and John Motowidlak and Billy Connolly and his sister, Helen Campbell.
