Raymond Edward Shelton, Jr., of 612 Pocahontas Rd, Danville, VA died Friday, December 18, 2009 in Danville Regional Medical Center. Born October 19, 1945 in Danville, he was the son of the late Margaret Shelton Dillon and the late Raymond Edward Shelton, Sr. He was employed as a foreman with Owens-Illinois, Brockway Glass. Ray was a member of Crosspoint Assembly Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a graduate of GWHS, received an Associate Degree from DCC and attended Averett University. He was married to Cherie Doss Shelton. In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by a daughter, Ashley Shelton of Danville; two sons, Mark E. Shelton and wife Karen and Michael C. Shelton and wife, Christine, all of Danville. He is also survived by a special niece, Christene Buchanan and two special nephews, Michael Buchanan and Dylan Haymore; a sister, Janice S. Mims and husband Jerry of Danville and four grandchildren, Tyler Ray Shelton, Brianna N. Shelton, Haley E. Shelton and Hannah J. Shelton. In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by two adopted children, Jeffrey and Jeremy Shelton.
