Muncie-Raymond Christopher Shell, 95, went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, March 3, 2013, at his residence that he built 62 years ago with his wife Ethel at his side following an extended illness. He was born on June 1, 1917 in Loogootee, Indiana, the son of Mark Lafayette and Cordie Olive (Read) Shell. Raymond married the love of his life, Ethel (Clouse) Shell in Muncie on January 8, 1943 and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.
After his honorable discharge in 1943 from the U.S. Army, he went to work for Warner Machine in Muncie as a Machine Operator until his retirement in the 1970’s. Raymond continued to work at the North side High School for another ten years and remained active into his nineties.
Besides his wife Ethel, he is survived by his son, Raymond M. Shell, his daughter, Trudie M. Shell, all of Muncie; two grandchildren, Michael T. Shell (wife-Debbie) and Tiffani D. (Shell) Parker (husband-Roby), both of Muncie; five great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; step father, Denver Medsker; brother, Roy Shell; sister Esther Favors; several half brothers and sisters; his grandson Christopher L. Shell in 2009; his great granddaughter, Patsy K. Shell in 1985,
