Raymond A. Ruppel, 93, of rural Virginia, IL died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his home.
He was born December 4, 1923 in Cass County, the son of Charles Edward and Doris Schaad Ruppel. He married Mary Ann Devlin on November 29, 1958 in Ashland, IL and she preceded him in death on September 20, 2002.
He is survived by a son, Mark Ruppel (wife, Rachel) of Virginia; five daughters, Beth Auxier (husband, Les) of Rochester, Rose Ruppel of Virginia, Doris Allen (husband, Earl) of Mason City, Ruth Maxwell (husband, Mark) of Jadwin, MO, and Rita Ruppel of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Megan, Carrie, Anna and Brice Auxier, Theo and Raymond Allen, Sabrina Rice (husband, Caleb), Clifton Maxwell, and Drew, Tim and Whitney Ruppel; a great grandson, Corbin Soaga; a sister, Louise Wildt of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Ruppel.
A 1941 graduate of Virginia High School, Raymond served with the Illinois Army National Guard and later with the US Air Force. He was a dedicated life-long grain and livestock farmer in Cass and Morgan Counties.
Raymond was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Chandlerville, Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau, and formerly served on the Cass County Fair Board of Directors.
