Raymond A. Benoit, 80, of St. Cloud, FL and Sutton, and formerly of Upton, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after he was stricken ill at home. He was the husband of Doris B. (Cote) Benoit.
Mr. Benoit was born in Upton, a son of the late Pierre V. and J. Aurora (LeCourt) Benoit. He grew up in Upton, where he attended local schools, and was a lifelong Upton resident until moving to Florida 21 years ago. He worked as a car salesman for several area dealerships, including Butler Chevrolet and Atamian Volkswagen, and owned and operated the Rose Garden Lounge in Upton for several years. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish in Upton and a member of the National Race Track Association.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he leaves one daughter, Shirley Knox and her husband John of Sutton; two sons, Dennis J. Benoit and his wife Marcia of Kissimmee, FL, and Michael B. Benoit and his wife Michelle of St. Cloud; a brother, Arthur R. Benoit of St. Cloud; six grandchildren, Damon Tinio and his wife Angela and Lawney Tinio and his wife Kelly, all of Mendon, Matthew Connors and his wife Katie of Oxford, Kerry and Katelyn Benoit of Kissimmee, and Tyler Benoit of St. Cloud; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Joseph, Richard, and Roland Benoit.
