Randi Paulshus Hubl, 95, Red Cloud, Nebraska, set sail on her final voyage May 9, 2017 from her apartment in Lincoln, Ne. She was with her daughter Rita had a peaceful departure. Randi was born in Moss, Norway July 19, 1921 to Dagny Paulshus. She attended school near Sarpsborg, Norway. After World War II Randi and her friend Kari Torgersen traveled to America in 1947 on a one-year visa to the Cleveland Farm near Mankato, KS. There she was introduced to Alois A. Hubl and soon a romance began to grow. They were married on August 26, 1948 and moved to Superior, Ne. In 1949 they moved to Red Cloud, Ne and raised five children: Rita, Sonja, John, Michael and Erik.
Randi’s mother Dagny Paulshus emigrated to Red Cloud in 1951 to make her home with her daughter and family. Dagny passed away March 24, 1972. Randi became a Nurse Aide at the Maynard Hospital in Red Cloud in 1951. She took Practical Nurses Training at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Ne. In 1956 she received her Practical Nursing License and also became a United States citizen. In 1957 when the new Webster County Hospital opened, Randi continued her employment until her retirement on April 30, 1989.
She is survived by her children, Rita Parris (Norm Hamel) Lincoln, Ne; Sonja Thompson, McKinney, Texas; Alois Jan Hubl (Patricia), Nebraska City, Ne; Michael Hubl, Scottsdale, Arizona; and Erik Hubl (Tammy), Lincoln, Ne, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren: Dawn Parris and children Derek, Nicolette and Jordon Pond; Michelle Parris; Jennifer Thompson and daughter Shaila Thompson; Amanda (Thompson) and husband David Turner; Jessica (Hubl) husband Andy Moyer and children Bryce, Maverick and Jackson; Jacqueline (Hubl) and husband Lucas Warren; Corrina Hubl and Katie Vrchota; Jeri Jo (Hubl), husband Mike Padilla and children Adam, Jessica, Levi, Erik and Randi Mae; Erik John Hubl; Mallory Hubl; Orion Diaz; Corvus and Angie Diaz and children Austin, Aurea, Cataleya, Corvus; Caelum Hubl; and Lyra Hubl; Nathan Hamel and children Mia and Aria.
Preceding her in death were her mother Dagny, her husband Alois, former daughter-in-law Barbara Strobl Hubl and brother and brother-in-law William Hubl and John Janda.
