Ramona Martinez, long-time resident of Santa Fe, passed into eternal life on November 15, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.  She was born in Raton, NM to Federico and Delia Bustamante.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years: Alejandro (Alex) Martinez Jr.; sisters:  Katie Sena and Rose Miller; brothers:  Pete and Jimmy Bustamante.  She is survived by her children:  Alex III (Caryn), Leroy (Evelyn), Yvonne (Michael), Karen, Sharon and Fred; grandchildren:  Teesha (Mitchell), Lia, Lucas, David and Jonathan; great grandchildren:  Carter, Lyla and Isabel and many nieces and nephews.

When Ramona was one year old the family moved close to Ribera and San Jose, NM where she grew up and attended school through Junior High.  She then attended Robertson High School in Las Vegas, NM.  Her parents owned a little country store and gas station called Sunshine so she learned to sell at a young age.  Ramona’s family also owned a nightclub called the Bustamante Club where they would hold dances and since Ramona loved to dance she attended many dances there.

Ramona met Alex at her brother’s wedding and several years later they were married at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, NM.   Their first parish was Our Lady of Guadalupe in Santa Fe.  Ramona and Alex later moved to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where Ramona was an active member of the Altar Society for many years and president for one term.  After her husband Alex passed away she attended St. Anne Parish.  She was a beautiful soul with a wonderful spirit and a compassionate heart.  We were truly blessed with a mother who gave us the greatest gift, that of her unconditional love.

Our family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the loving care that our mother received from AmberCare Hospice.  Heartfelt thanks to the staff that cared for our mother and treated her with dignity.
