Ralph V Fischer, CW4, US Army (Ret.), age 90, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1969, died on August 18, 2016. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Donna, on June 7, 2001. He is survived by his children, Randy Fischer and friend Beverly Hodge, Greg Fischer and wife Margie, and Gail Conlan; grandchildren, Lindsay Willey, Christopher Conlan and wife Courtney, Aimee Skidmore and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Tristen and Nevaeh Willey, Ella Conlan, Colin and Dylan Skidmore; sister, Gloria Rheault and husband, Alphe, of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by his second wife, Betty Jarvis Hammer, a former classmate of Glyndon, MN, whom he married in July 2005. Ralph was a veteran of WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and served in the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam; three tours in Germany; and a four month tour in Pakistan in 1957. He was awarded the Combat Inf Badge, the Bronze Star and numerous other medals and citations. After WWII, Ralph joined Company H, 136 Inf Regt, MN Nat’l Guard in Moorhead and was again called to active duty in Jan 1951. He was a Charter Member and past Commander of VFW Post 10763; a member of American Legion Post 49, The Military Officers Assoc. of America, and several other military organizations.
