Ralph left this earth to rejoin his wife and true love Dorothy June Randolph Ward. Ralph was born on September 5th or 9th, 1922 to William and Pearl Maddox Ward in West Lafayette, Indiana. The story of the 2 birthdays centers around his mother Pearl saying he was born on the 5th but his birth certificate indicating the 9th. Ralph enjoyed telling his version of the two birthdays. Ralph’s childhood was strongly influenced by the Great Depression.
Ralph was always there to help people with their projects and problems. He could fix just about anything. His favorite saying was “I can make that run with a corn cob for a sparkplug.”
Ralph was a devoted father to his children, Donna J Ward Clossin (David), Rheta Carol Ward Eason (Jim), and Ralph E Ward Jr (Donna Lynn), 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Ralph valued education and took great pride in assuring all his children had the opportunity to attend college. He spent many hours teaching practical skills to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the opportunity to watch his great-grandchildren participate in sports and their musical talents. He was very proud of their accomplishments.
