Sister Rafaela Mendoza, O.L.V.M., 100, of Victory Noll, Huntington, IN died Saturday, September 13, 2008 (10:00 AM) at Holy Family Health Care Center Victory Noll, Huntington, IN.
Sister Mendoza was born to Gregorio and Jacinta (Martinez) Mendoza on October 24, 1907, in San Diego de Alejandria, Jalisco, Mexico. Both parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by two brothers, Ignacio Mendoza of Lynwood, IL and Gregory Mendoza of Crest Hill, IL. One sister Teresa Garcia of Crete, IL. She was preceded in death by two brothers Agustin and Henry Mendoza also two sister Mary Ruiz and Sister Otilia Mendoza, OLVM. Sister Mendoza entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on November 1, 1924, and made her first vows on October 7, 1926. She served in the missions in Arizona, California, Colorado, Indiana, New Mexico and Texas. She retired in Arizona in 1992 and then returned to Victory Noll in 2000.
