Ruth Juanita Deppe, 90, of Newton died on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Skiff Medical Center.

Juanita, the daughter of Ralph and Lizzie (Talbert) Kinney, was born on March 4, 1927 in Scranton, Iowa.  Living in many places during her childhood with her dad’s farming career, Juanita graduated from Montezuma High School in 1945.  On January 11, 1945, Juanita was united in marriage with Maynard Deppe in Grinnell.  They made their home in the Rock Creek area.  Juanita worked for Hy-Vee as a cashier for 49 years, retiring in 2008.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Farm Bureau, and the Kellogg Historical Society.

Those left to honor Juanita’s memory are her children, Helen (Dean) Lanser, Ruth (Steve) Bookout, Kathy (Bob) Richardson, and Kenneth Deppe, all of Newton; four grandchildren, Roxanne (Terry) Roll of Newton, Tori Rohde of Ankeny, Ashley (Ed) Martin of Mitchellville, and Travis (Kristin) Crawford of Omaha, Nebraska; seven great-grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Kacie, Brianna, Taylor, Hunter, and Seth; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Dickey of Newton.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maynard Deppe; great-grandson, Brian Woody; 3 brothers, Cliff, Charley, and Robert in infancy; and 6 sisters, Erma, Florence, Claribel, Doris, Ellen, and Helen as a young child.
