Quentin Albert DeVore, 92, of Newton died on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.

Quentin, the son of Andrew and Wilma (Hawkins) DeVore, was born on May 27, 1929 in Purdin, Missouri. He grew up in Purdin and moved to Seymour, Iowa while he was in high school. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1946. Following high school, Quentin moved to Newton, Iowa and began working at the Maytag Company.  He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; receiving a Purple Heart. Upon returning he continued his tool and die career at Maytag, where he would work for a total of 44 years; retiring as the Superintendent of the Tool and Die Department in Plant 1 in 1990. While at Maytag, Quentin received a two-year degree in Tool and Die and had won many awards for efficiency and process improvements.  Quentin was very handy and could make anything out of wood or metal. He also enjoyed collecting everything. Quentin loved to spend time with friends and family. 

Quentin is survived by his three children, Susan (Michael) McGurn of Bellevue, Nebraska, Andrea DeVore of Newton, and Jill (Jim) McMahon of Newton; six grandchildren, Christina DeVore-Alexander, Sharly (Ryan) Yowell, Joshua (Katelynn) Fritz, Jenelle (Alan) Fitzpatrick, Nathan Beintema, and Megan (Justin) Beintema-Anderson; his 12 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Buddy.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Myron DeVore; and sister, MaryLou Havens.
