Quanda Carol Johnson (neé Butler), formerly Lanier, was born on August 9, 1951 to Geraldine Johnson and Calvin Butler in Philadelphia, PA. Quanda, affectionately known to family and friends as Quandie, was a graduate of the City of Burlington Senior High School in Burlington, NJ. Since childhood, she was a member of St. Mary Street United Methodist Church in Burlington, NJ.
She served as Church Secretary to Rev. Ralph Blanks for many years. A few of her passions included driving, traveling, reading, listening to music, and teaching others. While growing up, she loved to play ‘school’ and making her siblings pretend to be students. She was a natural leader who made you listen. As the eldest of 7 children she held her siblings to the highest standards by always encouraging them to achieve exceptional grades and to seek higher education.
She made herself available to other young people as a tutor and mentor by supporting them during early education. As a young woman Quandie was strong, intelligent, supportive, and most importantly resilient. She was committed to God and her family. Her resilience and commitment to God were mostly reflected in her ability to smile, and laugh as she endured her toughest moments.
Quanda is survived by her former husband, Willie J. Lanier, their two daughters: Tammy Brown her husband Michael and their 2 children Shatera and Michael Jr., and Penny DelMoral and her 3 children Jasmine, Deven, and Derek. Quanda is also survived by her siblings: Michele Butler, Debra Ann Butler, Blair Butler, Ronald Butler, Kim Butler (Carol), and Pastor Eric Butler (Iris). She is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren with another one on the way, and many nieces and nephews. Quanda, Quandie, Quan, Sis, Mom, Grandmom, and Grandma Otis- your flame will never be extinguished. Your family is the continued light and we pray for your eternal peace and blessings.
