Preston “Buck” Brandon, 84, beloved husband, father, and grandfather was called to heaven on August 12, 2021. He entered this world on March 14, 1937, in Stephenville, TX, born to Luther and Crissie Brandon. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Brandon; daughter Elizabeth White of Hobbs, NM; son Wade Brandon (daughter-in-law Carrie) of Windsor, CO; and 3 grandchildren, Cole Brandon (age 24), Preston White (age 21), and Bree Brandon (age 19). Buck served in the Texas Army National Guard as a young man. He graduated from Tarleton State College in Stephenville, and earned a Master’s Degree from North Texas State University. He started his teaching career in Odessa, TX in 1960. He moved to Hobbs, NM in 1962, where he taught and coached for 32 years. As the head golf coach, the boys team won state championships in 1970, 1987, and 1988. He was named Coach of the Year in 1987 by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association, and in 1988 he was the National High School Golf Coach of the Year.
