Pooniah was survived by her son David Darsan, daughter Violet Kissoon, daughter Ruth Bholoe, daughter Seeta Joell, son Simon Darsan, and daughters Monica Darsan, Esther Darsan, and Naomi Ramdass. She was the sister of Sylvie Samaroo, Gangaram Boodoo, and Jessie Ranga. Pooniah was also survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.
