Phyllis M. (Ruszenas) Pickett, formerly of Jewett City, CT and Woonsocket, RI, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI.  

She was born June 1, 1927, daughter of the late Charles and Anna Catherine (Garstka) Ruszenas.

Phyllis was a graduate of St. Mary’s School, Griswold High School and Stoneleigh Burham Prep School.  She also attended Trinity College for one year prior to her marrying her late husband, Norman Pickett.  She was employed by United Merchants in the billing department.  She and her husband owned and operated Ruszenas Market in the 1960’s.  She later spent 20 years working for the State of Connecticut, first at Norwich State Hospital and for many years at the CT DMV, raising to the rank of Supervisor.  Phyllis could also be found at Waterford Speedbowl in the pits and infield taking pictures of her son’s late model stock car. Also, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter or with the Lisbon Senior Center

She is survived by her son Norman Pickett, Jr. and wife Belinda, her daughter Priscilla Glode and husband James, her brothers Richard Ruszenas and wife Wynell of Oklahoma, and Kenneth Ruszenas and wife Jackie of Florida.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother Charles Ruszenas, Jr. and his wife Louise.
