Phyllis Luella Hamann, 95, passed away on July 11th in Boise, Idaho, of natural causes. She was born in Kellogg, ID, on November 10, 1021, to Elizabeth Dussault Moad, and Lawrence Moad. The family soon moved to Spokane, Wa, where she graduated from North Central High School. She attended Kinman Business University, and worked as a bookkeeper until she was in her 70’s. She enjoyed her job, and wanted to keep her mind sharp, which she did up to the end of her life.
Phyllis married Wayne Hamann and they had one daughter, Debbie. The family enjoyed time on their boat at Coeur d’Alene Lake, skiing at Schweitzer, camping on the Oregon coast, and bowling. Phyllis and Wayne bowled on a league at North Bowl, up until Wayne’s death in 2015. They also enjoyed time at Playfair race track when it was still in operation, and then the simulcast track in Post Falls, where they made many friends over the years. As Phyllis became more blind over time, due to macular degeneration, Wayne became her eyes. He drove her around, and used large markers to write things out for her so that she could see the stats on the horses, and strategically plan her bets.
Phyllis had moved into assisted living in Boise, Idaho two years ago when Wayne passed away, to be near her daughter.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, infant son Mark, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Collaer, son in law Phillip Collaer, granddaughters Paige Collaer and Brooke Collaer, brother Jack Moad, her nieces and nephews, and step son Dennis Hamann.
