Phyllis Joy (Stone) Bonfiglio age 74, of Ashland, died Thursday January 21, 2010 at her residence. She was born April 28, 1935 in Ashland, the daughter of Charles E. and Gladys V. (Newcomer) Stone. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1953. Mrs. Bonfiglio had worked for the Garber Co. and had retired after 30 years. She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church. She helped at St. Edward’s Hunger Center and had worked for the Election Board at her voting precinct. Her first loves were music and animals. She played the clarinet, piano, violin, and the ukelele. Reading was another love she indulged in daily. Also enjoyed knitting and counted cross- stitch. She loved her nieces, Jennifer and Rhonda, and totally enjoyed the many occasions they spent together, including family get- togethers. Also her great great nephew Connor brought her unending joy.
On October 15, 1971 she married Richard E. Bonfigilo, who survives. Other survivors include her two step sons, Bret J. Bonfigilo of Fredrick, MD., Gary J. Bonfigilo of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Camrin Bonfigilo, Kyle Bonfigilo, Christine Wiles all of Fredricktown and her sister and brother in law Sandra and Chuck Ticknor of Mansfield and her sisters in law Katherine Sheriff of Melbourne, FL., Margery Walker, Mary Ellen Bonfigilo, and Jeanne Bonfigilo all of Ashland. Also surviving are her special nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Scott Conery of Ashland, and Naples, FL., Rhonda and Keith Stroup- Crossen of Mansfield, Jeffrey and Kathleen Eby of Shelby, along with her beloved dog, Miss Molly who gave her unconditional love and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepson Richard (Rick) Bonfigilo, brother Everett W. Stone, two sisters Ruth E. Johnston Baugh and June O. Eby.
