LaPorte – Phyllis M. Grott, 77, of LaPorte, Indiana died Monday evening, June 5, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Phyllis was born August 29, 1934 in Michigan City, Indiana to William and Esther (Coursel) Schlene. On November 22, 1958 she married Bernard Grott.
Phyllis was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting and taking care of her home and family. For many years she was active with her children in 4-H and still enjoyed going to the fair.
Survivors include her husband Bernie Grott; children, Paul (Marian) Grott of Michigan City, Roger (Betty) Grott, Joyce (Kevin) Ahlgrim, Douglas Grott, James (Lisa) Grott, and Mary Grott all of LaPorte; grandchildren, Stephanie Pietrzak, David Pietrzak and Jacob Grott; and great-grandchildren Cassie and Frankie. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, William “Billy”, Tom, and Richard Schlene.
