Phyllis Elaine LaVelle, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Muncie, June 1, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Mary Dickerson Mitchell. She attended Muncie schools and graduated from MuncieCentralHigh School.
Surviving are three sons, Dennis LaVelle, (wife, Tiny), Fishers, Tim LaVelle, (wife Lynda), Muncie, and Pat LaVelle, (wife, Beverly), Muncie; six grandchildren, Dennis Scott LaVelle, (wife, Rhonda), Katrina Joanne Jones, (husband, John), Gretchen Alexandra Jewell, (husband, Matt), Jenifer LaVelle-Moore, (husband, Jason) Melissa Brooke LaVelle, and Nicholas Blake LaVelle, (wife, Katie); eleven great-grandchildren; her sister, Maxine Byers, Yorktown; her sister-in-law, Marge Jackson, Gaston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray LaVelle, who died in 1991; and five brothers.
