Phyllis Darlene (Hultz) Lopez, age 78, formerly from Albuquerque, passed away in Brownsville, Texas, on October 19th, 2012 following a sudden illness.
Darlene was preceded in death by a son, Larry Gene Miland; and siblings: Glen, Densil, Dewey, Dale, Sharon, and Carol.
She is survived by her husband, Salvador S. Lopez; children: Brian Neil Ervin, Richard Don Ervin, Cheryl Lynn (Ervin) Vela, and Michael Wayne Ervin; sister, Betty Lou (Hultz) Goodwin; sister-in-law, Beatrice Hultz; grandchildren: Reed, Kyle, Gina, Amanda, Brittany, and Shaun Miland, Brian Jr., Jessica, and Daniel Ervin, Richinda Ervin, Ignacia A. IV, Sheryl Darlene, Marisa and Anthony Vela; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews: Wayne, Clyde, Carl, Jimmy, Reed, Rusty, Debbie, Monica, Ramona, Linda Kaye, Angel, Tina Renee, and Lisa.
Darlene was born September 28th, 1934 in Crane, Missouri. She was the daughter of Charles and Dollie Hultz who passed away in 1964 and 1998, respectively. Darlene married Salvador S. Lopez, in Great Falls, Montana, on December 24th, 1971, and he misses her very much.
Darlene was ill for quite some time but either wasn’t aware or simply wouldn’t complain. Complaining wasn’t her nature. She was a phenomenal cook, and cat fancier. She worked at Goody’s Restaurant in the 1970s and 1980s, and was very liked by her patrons. She retired early to cook and take care of her husband and home. She loved lilacs, roses, grape vines, and tomatoes.
Darlene left us in a peaceful state with her husband, daughter, and son at her side. Anyone who wishes may donate in Darlene’s memory to the American Cancer Society (1-800-227-2345), or local hospice. The Lopez, Ervin, and Hultz families thank all who knew and loved our wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and best friend. She is too missed for words to express.
Mrs. Lopez’s cremains were returned to her home in California.
