Phyllis A. Burch, 91, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Phyllis was born May 29, 1930, in Greene County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Leo and Mabel (Faucett) Freeman. She was a 1948 graduate of Solsberry High School and worked for RCA in Bloomington. Upon leaving RCA, she became a homemaker turning her focus toward nurturing and raising her three daughters. She enjoyed partnering with her husband of 70 years, Ivan Burch, with interior design for their home construction business. She took great pride and devotion to her family and her home.

Phyllis was described as beautiful, kind, and caring. Hosting family gatherings was always a special occasion. Christmases were punctuated with not only gifts but decorating Christmas cookies and making her “famous Black Forest cake”. Phyllis enjoyed this beautiful life to the fullest. She traveled with her family across the U.S. and was especially fond of The Grand Tetons in Wyoming. She loved the natural beauty of the outdoors. Her interests included birdwatching, flowers, taking drives through the countryside, boating, and fishing with her husband and family. She was known for her admirable green thumb.

Survivors include her three loving daughters: Kathy Smith, Janet Burch, and Cynthia Burch Harms; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Smith, Matthew Smith, Michael Smith, Aimee Smith, Ryan Harms, and Adam Harms, Barron Harms, and Evan Harms; and eleven great-grandchildren. Phyllis is survived by her sister, Marilyn Runge, and brother, Garry Freeman.

Phyllis was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Ivan Burch in 2018; her parents; her sister, Betty (Freeman) Toombs; and her brother, Roger Freeman.
