ADKINS, Mrs. Phyllis A., Kalamazoo, MI. Died Tuesday morning September 7, 2010. Phyllis was born June 12, 1926 in Pontiac, Michigan the daughter of Phillip and Myrtle McCarty Bird.
She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was employed with the Kalamazoo Public Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harrison “Harry” Adkins on August 10, 2001; and 2 brothers, Phillip and Herb Bird. Phyllis is survived by 6 children, Virginia Phillips, Harold Blodgett, and William Alice Adkins all of Kalamazoo, Phillip Tess Adkins of Gobles, Anita Tiffany of Scotts, and Suzanne Foster of Kalamazoo; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Bird of Portage; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
