Philip was born Feb. 21, 1930 in Gladstone, NM to Russell and Anna (Wingard) Pittman. He was the 2nd born of eight children. Philip was raised and educated in Farley, NM before moving to Idaho in 1946 with his family. Philip joined the U.S. Army on Oct. 7, 1947 and proudly served his country for five years before being honorably discharged in November of 1952. Upon returning from the military dad met the love of his life Marjorie Peterson marrying her on Jan. 16th 1954; they celebrated 63 years of marital bliss. Phil and Marge had 3 children Phil Jr., Rick and Becky. Dad loved his family and created many great memories with fishing and camping trips at Cascade Lake, Lost Lake and Sage Hen Reservoir. He loved pheasant, goose and duck hunting and passed these great traditions on to his family. Throughout dad’s life he leveled land, hauled logs, worked construction and built new homes. In 1988 Phil Jr. and Phil Sr. opened Pittman Building Supply in New Plymouth, here he enjoyed many years working with his sons and son-in-law. Dad also had a love for dairying, ranching, working cattle to operating farm machinery from swathing, baling, plowing, and discing. Dad was always the first one to show up and the last one to leave when there was work to be done.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons Brock Gross and Bobby Hendrickson; great grandson Bradley Pittman; brother David Pittman; and sister Anna Ruth Svensen. Philip is survived by his loving wife Marjorie Pittman; sons Pastor Phil (Kay) Pittman Jr., Rick (Tina) Pittman; daughter Becky (Gary) Gross; grandchildren Ross (Stacy) Pittman, Dani (Cody) Rollins, Megan (Tim) Bourner, Mitch (Jody) Pittman, Chasity Pittman, Reilly (Brandon) Jennings, Anna (Seth) Bodas, Colton Gross, Codie (Monte) Holloway and Jennifer Hendrickson; great grandchildren Bodee and Lilly Rollins, Anessa and Elsie Bourner, Bailee, Teagan, Hazel and Hayden Jennings, Mathew and Jessie Cantrell, Nolan, Ethan, Mallory and Alex Hendrickson; sisters Hannah (Enas) Wilson, Fern Burns, Carolyn (Lee) Wright; brothers Paul (Judy) Pittman, James ( Billie) Pittman; brother-in-law Bill Peterson; and many special nieces and nephews.
