Philip Mathew Kersch

Phil was the son of Philip and Teresa Kersch who immigrated from the Slavic

Region of Europe in the early 20th century. His parents lived in Detroit and then settled on a farm in Armada.

Born in Detroit, MI and a Florida resident since 1970, he passed peacefully away on May 16th at the age of 88 years and 363 days at his home in Boca Raton. Phil is predeceased by his wife, the former Ann DeSmit, to whom he was wed 66 years. Phil is survived by his three children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Children: Judy [daughter} & Lester Dahlin of Hobe Sound, FL: Susan Kersch [daughter] of Madison, AL and Roger [son] of Ashville, NC.

Grandchildren: Tiffany [daughter of Susan] and Bob Sweeney of Ft Pierce, FL;

Christina [ Tina daughter of Susan] & Travis Stanley of Athens, AL, and Mathew Marrero [son of Susan] of Madison, AL.

Great-grandchildren : Abigail [6], Hannah [4], Isaac [3 1/2], and Ezekiel [10 months]

Phil was ambitious person who began as a farmer and then moved through other occupations until he discovered his calling as an entrepreneur in the field of automobiles. He founded Bay City Imports in Bay City, MI upon which he first built his career in foreign car sales. In 1970 he sold Bay City Imports and began over by moving to Florida and founding Delray Datsun which he later renamed Auto World of Delray Beach. When he retired, Phil continued his passion of antique and classic autos. Phil and Ann spent many summers enjoying retired life in their summer home in Washington, MI.

Phil is remembered for always waking up with a smile on his face and his daily single Hersheys chocolate kiss. One of his favorite places to frequent was the Armada flea market. He never forgot his roots.
