Philip Jerome Gelb, 82, formerly of Stamford, husband of the late Susan (Baum) Gelb, passed away on February 3, 2011 at his daughter’s house in Gastonia, NC.
A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Phil raised his family in Hauppauge, NY where he owned Emarkay Vending. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, private pilot and bridge player. He is survived by his two daughters, Wendy Gelb Rees and her husband, William of Cromwell and Tracey Robin Gelb of Gastonia, NC; his stepdaughters, Lori Greenbaum and her husband, Glen of Sarasota, FL and Barbara Levine and her husband, Jim of Bronx, NY; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline, Daniel, Kristen, Tracy, Caryn, Tara, and Risa and her husband, Corey; two great grandsons; a sister-in-law, Barbara Gelb, nephew, Steven Gelb and his family, niece Deena Shapiro and her family. Along with his wife, Phil was predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Jeannette (Dunbrow) Gelb and his brother, Ross Gelb.
