Philip G. “Phil” Compton, 79 of Tipton, Indiana died on August 13, 2014, at Millers Merry Manor-Tipton in Tipton, Indiana.

Born June 12, 1935 in Fairmount, Indiana, son of the late Willard Compton and the late Lula Rich Compton.A 1953 Graduate of Fairmount High School, Phil also attended Agriculture Winter Short Courses at Purdue University.Phil and Carol Sue Dye were married on March 18, 1956.Carol survives in Tipton. Phil served in the Army and was a Grant County Farmer for many years, raising crops, cattle and hogs.He retired from Farming in 1996.His love for the Lord led he and Carol to South Dakota where they founded Hands of Faith Ministries serving the Native American People and then in Gordon Nebraska where they founded Jesus CaresMinistries.Phil was active with the Jail Ministry and was a member of Harmony Christian Church and was a former FFA State Vice President from 1953-1955. He enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving are daughter, Teresea Compton of Valparaiso, IN, son, Paul (Pam) Compton of Tipton, IN, 3 Grandchildren:Jessica (Chris) West, Indianapolis, IN Amber (Josh) Shoemaker, Tipton, IN Danielle (James) Schroeder, Lake Forrest, IL 2 Great-Grandchildren;Malachi and Eden Shoemaker sisters, Barbara (Stan) Young of Scottsdale, AZ and Patricia (Jack) Milam of Jerome, MI.

He was preceded in death by a sister Jeanne White.
