Phil Armstrong, 84, passed away March 27, 2022 at Ogallala Community hospital. Phil was born December 28,1937 on a farm southwest of Brule, Ne to Walter and Fern (Kenfield) Armstrong.

He started grade school at Cottonwood Corners, he then went on to 8th grade in Big Springs, NE, where he graduated in 1955. After graduation he worked for his father on the farm full time. Phil met his wife Barbara Driefholt in high school and they went on to get married on September 24, 1955 at United Methodist Church in Big Springs, NE.

In 1964, Phil and Barbara moved to their family home, where they began and raised their family and stayed on for over 58 years. Phil and Barbara were active members of the United Methodist Church in Big Springs for many years, until they transferred to the Ogallala Methodist Church. Phil has been a Member of the United Methodist Church for over 70 years. Phil moved to Ogallala in 2019 after the passing of his wife Barbara.

During Phil’s lifetime he was an active member serving and being on many boards including for the United Methodist Church.  He also was active in the Ogallala Masonic Lodge 159 AF & AM, where he was a Past Master, Tehama Temple, Big Mac Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, Ogallala Elks Club and Ogallala of Eastern Star – Chapter 142 as Worthy Patron. Phil was also on the Western Irrigation District board and Big Springs Rural Fire Board. 

Phil is proceeded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents, Walter and Fern; a daughter- in- law, Rogeina Armstrong; brother-in-law, Harold McClung; and a grandson Jon Armstrong

Phil is survived by his loving companion Cena Graves of Ogallala; his children Alan (Nikki) Armstrong of Brule, Cindy (Barry) Walker of Big Springs, and Dianne (Steve) Anderson of Lander,WY; His three siblings Melvin (Shari) Armstrong of Greeley, CO, Darrell (Darlene) Armstrong of Brule, NE, and a sister Jeannette McClung of Big Springs, NE; 10 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren. He also is survived by several Nieces and Nephews.
