Peter J. Vitale, 93, of Wallingford, died peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (DeAngelo) Vitale. Born in Derby, son of the late Amato and Theresa (Batestelli) Vitale, he was a Newington resident for more than 35 years before moving to Wallingford in 2008. Mr. Vitale retired from the Social Security Administration as a District Manager after 39 years of service. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and retired in 1979 as a Brigadier General from the Army National Guard. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. Devoted to his family, he leaves two daughters, Nancy Vitale Behrman and her husband Douglas of San Jose, CA, and Suzanne Vitale of Walnut Creek, CA; and a son Vincent Vitale of Middletown; two grandchildren Joel Behrman of San Jose, CA, and Paul Vitale of Cincinnati, OH. He also leaves a sister Theresa Stopa of Centerbrook, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and their families.
