Peter A. Demereski, GMGC, US Navy retired, 82
Troy Peter A. Demereski, GMGC, US Navy retired, 82 ,of Stanton Hill Apartments, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Dorchester, MA, July 13, 1922, he was the son of the late Michael Demereski and Catherine (Szymanska) Demereski and husband of the late Edna V. Cahill Demereski.
He had resided in Wynantskill, Troy, Stillwater, Franklin, MA and returning to Troy for several years and was educated at Troy schools and was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College.
Mr. Demereski enlisted in US Navy in 1942 after Pearl Harbor. Served with Naval Forces during World War II- European Theatre, and Pacific Asiatic Theatre, during Korea Formosa Patrol and Loas, China Seas. His duty as Chief Gunners Mate and Ordnance Specialist was on Destroyers and Aircraft Carriers. Transferred to Fleet Reserve in August 1962 after 20 years active duty, and Honorably Discharged from US Navy August 1 1972 completing 30 years service in the military.
He was a supporter and Life Member of VFW Post I, a Life Member of American Legion Post 14000, a Life Member of Retired Enlisted Men Association, the Fleet Reserve Association and AARP Senior Citizens Coalition and Elks Lodge #2136 Franklin, MA. He also was a member and supporter of several religious organizations that cared for missionaries and homeless children and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy
He is survived by a son, Peter M. Demereski (Kimmarie) of East Greenbush; a daughter, Catherine Ann Quinn (Thomas F. III) of Franklin, MA.; four granddaughters, Alexandra E., Elizabeth A., Christina V. and Victoria A. Quinn all of Franklin, MA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and a sister.
