Peter H. Dyksterhouse, Sr, MI Peter died Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2011. He was born February 22, 1923 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Albert and Bessie Hoeksema Dyksterhouse. Peter was a veteran of the United States Army Intelligence and Counterintelligence serving during World War II. He retired from Kalamazoo Public Schools where he touched many lives as a teacher, principal, adult education coordinator and assistant superintendent. Peter’s life was filled with music vocal, organ and cello.
He served as soloist, choir director, organist and guest musician for many churches in Kalamazoo. Peter was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Pauline Roach Dyksterhouse of Kalamazoo; a child, Cheryl and second wife, Donna Dyksterhouse of San Antonio, TX. Surviving are a son and daughter and their spouses, Peter Jr. and Dee Dyksterhouse of Kalamazoo and Mark and Sharon Coyne of Lexington, KY; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
