Peter Guzy, 66, principal architect of Guzy Architects in New York City, died peacefully on 14 May 2022, at Regional Hospice Danbury, after a valiant battle with Glioblastomia, a rare and brutal form of brain cancer. Since 2001, Peter loved living with his family in Ridgefield, Connecticut, on the relaxing and idyllic grounds of The Hickories Farm. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Diane Sena, along with their wonderful children – daughter Juliana, currently living in Toronto, and son Alden, who will graduate from Ridgefield High School in June.

Peter was a brilliant architect and lifelong student. A 1979 graduate of Cornell University School of Architecture, he was awarded the Eidlitz Fellowship, which he completed at the American Academy in Rome, before teaching architectural design and theory at the ETH in Zürich, Switzerland. He practiced architecture in Zürich for a number of years, before returning to NYC to found Asfour Guzy Architects in 1988 with Edward Asfour. Peter’s timeless projects exhibit his passionate devotion to livable high design that tells a story without over-stylization, 

Peter was a devoted and loving father, husband, friend, and mentor, who enjoyed many lifelong and deeply meaningful relationships.
Peter was born in Manhattan on 26 February 1956 to Barbara Wolfson Guzy and Harold Guzy, who both predeceased him. Peter is also survived by his sister, Marcia Guzy, and her children, Elizabeth, Suzanne, and Jaqueline Chipkin; as well as his brother, Gary Guzy, his wife, Sherry Sprague, and their children, Zoë and Zander Guzy-Sprague. He will also be missed by his step-mother, Rita Guzy, and Diane’s parents, her brothers and their families.
