Peggy Turner Harris peacefully slipped away into the presence of her God on November 23rd. She was born March 25, 1930 and was one of nine children born to the marriage of Fred and Alice Gowens Turner. In 1948 she married Clemit Roy Harris. She was his partner in life and business until his death in 2009. Together they operated Harris Grocery.
For the families that worked in the mill at Arnco the store was a one-stop shop for anything from soap to wash clothes to the plumbing necessary to get the water to the house. It was a great presence in that area until they retired and closed the business in 2005. To say that she and Clemit had a strong work ethic would be a mild statement. Growing up in hard times, they knew that the only way to succeed was to work hard every single day.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Jack and Frank Turner. Peggy is survived by her daughters Sharon Harris Thompson and her husband Luke; Brenda Harris Pratt and her husband Don. Her grandchildren are Julie Merrell and her husband Jonathan, Jordan Pratt, Robert Pratt, Nicole Peterson and her husband Cory, Derek Thompson and his wife Amanda, Mallory Thompson. Her great grandchildren are Aubree Peterson, Sylas Thompson and Aiden Peterson.
