Peggy Jean Hayslip, beloved wife of 61 years, adored mother and grandmother passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 with her family by her side at her home in Baker, Florida.
Peggy was born June 30, 1938, in Pensacola, Florida, then early in life moved to Holley, Florida. She loved the beach, her friends and family. She was a wonderful seamstress at an early age of her life. She married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Gene Hayslip and moved to Niceville, Florida. She had so much enthusiasm and drive in her sweet soul. She worked for Okaloosa County School Board driving school buses. She was a sister in Beta Sigma Phi and became a hair dresser owning her own shop in Niceville. After working with Redkin Products she moved to Atlanta and continued to be a hairdresser and work for Redkin doing product shows around the area. After retirement Peggy and Gene moved home to Baker. She was still a homemaker caring for her family and grandkids that she loved so dearly. While she was ill, she had two great grandkids, that she loved dearly and she would speak of them and tell you about “Little B” and Ryker.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Dovie Jernigan Caylor, and James Ralph Caylor brothers in law, Pastor Melvin Kilpatrick, Johnnie Long, and Gerald Mills.
She is survived by her husband Eugene Hayslip, Sr., son, Eugene Hayslip, Jr; daughter, Debra Weekly and husband Tony; son, Terry Hayslip and wife Jan ; five Grandchildren and five Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Betty Long, Pat Benjamen and husband Roger, Diane and husband Ken Deason, Donna and husband Gary Mclaughlin; sister in law, Joan Kilpatrick.
Peggy will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
