Peggy Elizabeth Murphy Wolsfelt, age 84 of Lake City, FL and formerly of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died Friday, May 27, 2022 at Baya Pointe Nursing Home, Lake City, FL.
Born in Pittsboro, North Carolina to James Edward Murphy and Rachel Elizabeth Cannady. Peggy moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1964, from Chapel Hill, NC, and then to Lake City, FL in 2006.
Peggy was a Past Worthy Matron and lifetime member of Eastern Star, New Smyrna Chapter No. 3. She was member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Edward Rutledge Chapter and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Lake City Chapter. Peggy was civic minded and volunteered many hours with a variety of non profit organizations during her life. In recent years, associations included NF/SG Veteran’s Health System as a Volunteer Ambassador and Friends of the Columbia County Library.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, siblings and oldest daughter, Sherrie Lynn Horton. Survivors include her adoring husband of 55 years, George; daughter, Jacqueline Hope (Barry) Wright; granddaughter, Rachel Sganga; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
