Peggy “Begonia” Smith has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior. She passed away at her residence on Wednesday, September 17 of natural causes. She was 73.

Peggy married David “Dick” South in May of 1957. They had four wonderful daughters: Deborah Hurly, Sandra Lundquist, Kandi Stoebe and Pamela Sawyer-Brown.

She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1941. Peggy was a graduate of Orangeburg Collage of Beauty. She worked for many years in Great Falls at The Bon Marche as a hair dresser, then Guys & Gals Salon, until later she opened her own salon known as Pleasing People. She had an infectious laugh and an up-beat spirit and rarely complained, even during her illness. Peggy loved to dance, sing and she enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren. She always stayed close to home on most occasions because that is where her heart was. One could usually find her watching The Price is Right or Bonanza. No-doubt we will all miss her southern accent and the twinkle in her eye. So Long Mama, see you soon.

Peggy is survived by her 4 daughters; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and she loved each one unconditionally. She is also survived by her sister Joan Burch of Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Peggy is preceded in death by both her parents Garland & Beulah Hatcher and 2 of her sisters: Shirley Price and Ruby Garland.
