Pauline Harris (age 100) of Scottsdale, Arizona (formerly of Corsicana, Texas) passed away peacefully at her home on February 19, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her first and only love, her husband of over 40 years, Neil Harris, also of Corsicana. She is survived by their son, Richard Harris ( Judy) and their daughter, Sandra Frey ( Jim). She was known as “Mema” to her five grandchildren, Steve, Stacie (Ross) and Mike, Amy (Cliff) and David. Great grandchildren include Kylie, Cole, Jaclyn, James, Ross, Brooke, Willow and Wyatt. She was also a proud great-great grandmother to two-year-old Hayden.
Pauline loved her family and friends with all her heart and cherished the time she spent with each one. She was born in Dallas, Texas on July 2, 1920 and moved to Corsicana at a very young age. She fell in love with her husband during high school and was married shortly after that. They spent time in Texas City, Texas and returned to Corsicana where they raised their children. She and her husband loved nothing better than to get together with their close friends for an evening of fun, dancing and good food! She worked in the office of the Collin Street Bakery (known for their world-famous fruitcakes) until she retired at 73 and was very active at the Kinsloe House and First Methodist Church. She was always baking her delicious brownies for all the school bake sales. She had a reputation for being an excellent bridge player. In 2007, she moved to Scottsdale House in Scottsdale, Arizona where she joined several bridge, bunco and bingo groups and played almost five days a week. She enjoyed playing cards with her daughter and taking on her family in “King’s Corners”, Monopoly and “Chicken Foot” during the holidays. Mema was known for being a lot of fun and very social. At any wedding or party, she was usually the first on the dance floor and the last one to leave. She loved a good book and was especially fond of Friday night movie nights and dinners with her daughter, and her husband and their friends. She enjoyed the symphony and theater and was able to travel to many new and exciting places in the U.S. She “spoiled” her grandchildren with her famous “Mema Mac and Cheese.”
Mema will be missed tremendously by family and friends.
