Paula Margo Jones, known by all as Margo, passed away on Tuesday, July 9th, 2019 at the age of 68.

Margo was born to J. Paul Jones and Lucille O. Jones in Orange, Texas on Tuesday, March 13, 1951. As a career US Navy family member, Margo lived in New Orleans, LA and Cherry Point, NC with her brother, Craig and sister Yolanda before the family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1959. Margo attended APS schools and graduated from Sandia High School. From a young age, Margo always loved music, dancing and acting — even taking acting classes and winning awards in dance. Margo worked for years in bookkeeping at Cummins Diesel and Rust Tractor before deciding to devote herself to teaching. Margo started as a teacher’s assistant when her children were in school and went back to UNM to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Education. She was dedicated to Special Education and obtained a Masters Degree as well as dual certification. Margo taught Special Education for years at Manzano High School and took early retirement due to rheumatoid arthritis. Margo was married to Mark Traub (deceased) with whom she had a daughter Tami. She was also married to Jess Atwood with whom she had a son, Jonathan Atwood.

Margo was preceded in death by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her sister, Yolanda Jones King and her husband, Gary K. King; as well as her children, Tami L. Traub and her partner, Cheryl Colon, and Jonathan P. Atwood and his boyfriend, Jared Castle.
