Paul Leo Ernest Riebe, 87, of Utica , died at 3:22 a.m. Sunday, July 29, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru .
Paul was born in Chicago on October 13, 1924, to Ernest and Henrietta (Knoll) Riebe. He grew up in Fall River Township south of Ottawa, Ill. The family moved to Utica in 1954 where he farmed until his retirement.

In addition to farming, he worked for Walter Seed Company in Grand Ridge, was a DeKalb seed corn representative for many years and also sold Knapp Shoes. Paul worked for the Illinois Department of Agriculture upon his retirement from farming until 2009.
He attended Zion Lutheran Grade School in Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1942. He attended LPO Junior College .
He is survived by one daughter, Paula ( Marshall ) Felbein of Naperville and two grandsons, Andrew & Matthew; one brother, Earl (Grace) Riebe, of Ottawa ; one sister, Anita (Ernest) Lindsey, of Plainfield . He was preceded in death by his wife, Birdie, on January 25, 2011; his daughter Marcia in 2004; and one brother, Harold.
