Jonesboro: Paul R. McCormick, 84, of rural Jonesboro passed away at 6:56 p.m. Wednesday at Marion General Hospital. He was born the son of the late Wyatt and Edna (McKellob) McCormick in Plymouth.

Paul was a 1950 graduate of Fairmount High School and furthered his education at Purdue University. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Beverly Loman on July 7, 1956. She preceded him in death in 1988. On February 16, 1989, he married Linda (Long) Keever, in Upland.

She survives. After 27 years with Delco Remy, Anderson he retired in 1993, and prior to that was employed with Anaconda, Marion, for nine years. Mr. McCormick was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Marion, and American Legion Post #313, Fairmount. He enjoyed gardening, and listening to Gospel music.

Survivors include his wife, Linda (Long) McCormick, Jonesboro; son, John (Jennifer) McCormick, Summitville; two daughters, Naomi (Mark) Young, Shirley and Rachel (David) Hoard, Anderson; brother, Jim McCormick, Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Patty Little, Phyllis (Jack) Banther, both of Sun City Center, FL; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wiley “Ed” McCormick; three sisters, Ruth Sappenfield, Margerie Shaffer, and Shirley Gingery; a grandson, Joshua R. McCormick; and a step-daughter, Tresa Shellenbarger.
