A man who’s life touched more residents than most in what seemed like a lifetime lived in Beacon.

Paul Putorti, a longtime Beacon resident, formerly of the Hedgewood Home and recently of the Avalon Assisted Living in Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2021 at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie; he was 84 years old. Paul was born on August 16, 1937 in White Plains, NY, son of the late Phillip & Mary (Cavaliere) Putorti.

Paulie, as he was affectionately known to those who knew him around Beacon; He is survived by a host of friends he met along his way. Paul is also survived by his two brothers, Thomas and Phillip Putorti and his two sisters, Maryanne ‘Maria’ Osborn and Judy Putorti.

Paulie was a kind, generous, and caring individual who would literally give you the shirt off his back. Even on days where it was snowing Paulie would very literally, take his shirt off if you needed it. If it wasn’t his shirt, it was the treasures he’d find; knickknacks of all sorts, things left to the wayside that still had some use which was a poetic representation of the life Paulie lived.

He was kind and sincere; someone who you couldn’t help but want to love. And many people in the Beacon-community did that to him. He was the kind of person you wanted to support, the same way he supported you. With a warm smile and an open heart. Paulie’s gift was that you could feel his love.

The world lost a sweet soul the day he passed away. To those that love him know he was in the presence of people who cared about him and went away peacefully. An end deserving of the beautiful man he was.
