Paul N. Peck, 87, of Galesburg, died at 12:39 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.Paul was born July 21, 1925 in Galesburg, the son of Earl D. and Lyda Belle (Spencer) Peck.

He married Marlene M. Lawson on February 13, 1962 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2003.  Paul is survived by three sons, John and Bill both of Galesburg and Michael (and PoLin) of Wauconda; two daughters, Paula Peck of Fort Worth, TX and Marti (and Bud) Culver of Mineral Wells, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marlene, and two brothers, William and Earl.Paul graduated from GHS in 1943.

He went on to serve in the US Army during WWII in the 17th Airborne Division, 507th Regiment. Paul owned and operated the Huddle Restaurant in Galesburg for over 40 years, retiring in 1992. Paul truly enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting. As a supporter of the Boy Scouts he sold his land to them to develop Camp Fellheimer in rural London Mills. Paul was very active at the VFW Post #2257, where he was a past commander where he was named an All-American Commander. Paul was also active in Poppy Days for the VFW.

He was also a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285.  He served as the chairman for the Memorial Day Parade in Galesburg for 20 years. He was a member of Alpha Lodge No. 155 A.F.& A.M. and was also a member of El Bon Shrine Club. Over his lifetime, Paul had been very active in the community giving to many different causes and volunteering his time.  He had also been active in the Kiwanis, the Cosmopolitan Club, and the Rotary Club.
